Footwear Design Challenge – Terms & Conditions
The competition is organised by ARS Developments cc t/a The Footwear Design and Technology School (“the School”).
2. EligibilityOpen to individuals aged 18 years and older.
No prior formal footwear design training is required.
Employees of the School and their immediate family members are not eligible.
Week 1 – Initial Sketch Submissions: Now → 27 December 2025
Week 2 – Public Voting on Initial Sketches: 28 December 2025 → 3 January 2026
Week 3 – Finalist Shoe Design Submissions: 4 January 2026 → 10 January 2026
Week 4 – Public Voting on Rendered Designs: 11 January 2026 → 17 January 2026
Winner Announcement: 18 January 2026
Participants must watch the educational video provided by the School.
Submit three detailed pencil sketches of the side profile of a footwear last: low, mid, and high heels.
Submission must be via the official Google Form.
Only shortlisted finalists will be invited to submit a detailed pencil sketch of their shoe design.
Submit the corresponding Vizcom.ai prompt for rendering which will be explained at this stage.
The School will render the designs for the public showcase.
Note: Only one entry per person is allowed.
5. Shortlisting and JudgingThe School will shortlist 10 finalists based on:
Proportional accuracy
Line quality and detail
Creativity and clarity of Vizcom.ai prompt
Public Voting:
Public votes via Facebook reactions contribute 30% of the final score.
Public sharing is optional and not required to enter.
Judges’ Score:
Judges evaluate the initial sketches, shoe sketches quality and video rendering results.
Judges’ score contributes 70% of the final score.
The School’s decision is final.
1st Place: Full course scholarship for the February 2026 intake, applicable to one of the following programs:
Part Time AI Footwear or Handbag Design with Vizcom.ai Cape Town
Part Time Footwear design Johannesburg)
Full-time Technical Footwear Design (Pretoria)
Part-time Technical Footwear Design (Durban)
Online course in Technical Footwear Design
2nd Place: Make-a-Shoe Workshop (Pretoria only) or online Course in Technical Footwear Design
Important conditions:
The scholarship is subject to course availability and minimum enrolment requirements.
Should the selected course or campus not proceed, the winner may choose an alternative course and/or campus offered by the School.
The School shall not be held legally liable if a specific course or campus does not run.
Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash
By submitting an entry, participants grant the School permission to use sketches and rendered images for marketing, educational, and promotional purposes, with credit where possible.
Submissions may be featured on the School’s website, social media, and emails.
Personal information collected (name, email, city) will be used solely for competition administration and course enrolment follow-up.
Data will not be shared with third parties.
This competition is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Facebook, Meta, or Vizcom.ai.
The School reserves the right to amend or cancel the competition if circumstances beyond its control require it.
